The Central America and Mexico Free Trade Agreement is scheduled to be signed at the Heads of State Summit, which will be held in Tuxtla Gutierre, Mexico, on the17th and 18th of October this year. Due to the bilateral consensus, this FTA negotiation will accelerate the integration of the three existing FTAs between Mexico and Central America into a Mexico and Central America Free Trade Agreement, in order to expedite trade dealings. Currently, Mexico has signed the Mexico and Costa Rica FTA with Costa Rica; signed the Mexico and Nicaragua FTA with Nicaragua; and signed the Mexico and Central America FTA with Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador (the so-called Northern Triangle). Most of the agreements are in effect and have been implemented for over 10 years. Mexico has a large number of exports to the above countries, and is the largest beneficiary.
