10 Taiwan startups to showcase products at VivaTech in Paris

2019/05/16

A delegation of 10 Taiwan enterprises is set to showcase their innovative products and solutions at Viva Technology, one of Europe’s leading startup events, May 16-18 in Paris.

The country’s pavilion at VivaTech is organized by Taiwan Tech Arena, a Taipei City-based incubation hub supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology. It will spotlight emerging firms in such fields as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, smart health care and virtual reality.

Participants include driver fatigue and health monitoring system developer FaceHeart Inc., online educational startup Ludo, and vehicle voice assistant design company Carkit AI Inc.

According to the MOST, the exhibitors took part in the qualifying rounds of VivaTech’s startup challenge, in which leading global enterprises like Allianz and Volkswagen AG are seeking innovative solutions across a range of industries. All 10 won the opportunity to present their ideas at the final pitch event May 17, the ministry said.

During the three-day gathering, MOST Deputy Minister Hsu Yu-chin, who is heading the Taiwan delegation, and TTA Managing Director Lewis Chen will also deliver remarks at an investor forum organized by U.S.-based media outlet Electronic Engineering Times.

Following VivaTech, the delegation will visit the Ministry of the Economy in Luxembourg and several European startups as part of government efforts to strengthen ties between emerging enterprises from the two sides, the MOST said.

Launched in 2016, VivaTech is an annual conference dedicated to tech innovation. Last year’s edition featured more than 9,000 startups and attracted over 1,900 investors and 100,000 visitors from 125 countries and territories.
