Guatemalan alcohol dealers said that 10% of the Guatemalan population consumes some type of wine, which indicates that this type of alcohol has become democratic, and is no longer exclusive to wealthy families. According to a study by International Wine and Spirits, the data obtained from wine dealers shows that the Guatemalan population consumed over 262,000 liters of wine in 2010, while the wine consumption in the year 2000 was 184,000 liters. 70% of wine distribution in Guatemala is for resellers, while 30% of wine distribution is for restaurants. The average price per bottle, depending on its circumstance, ranges from Q60.00 (approximately US$7.97) to Q1,200 (approximately US$159.36).
