2011-05-27
The Central American delegation attended the fourth round of signing discussions of the free trade agreement with Peru, held in Lima on May 2. The agreement discussions ended this weekend. The Guatemalan Economy Minister said that the largest trading products with Peru, such as sugar and rubber were discussed, while textile production, refrigerators and freezers are also expected to be included in the discussion. In 2010, Guatemala export sales to Peru were 52 million U. S. dollars, of which sugar was 37 million U. S. dollars, and natural rubber was 11 million US dollars. The Central American sugar association indicated that they were considering a negotiation of the fees of filing an appeal of this product, but the biggest challenge was to reach a deal this week.
