The exported textile dollar amount in 2010 was 1.51 billion U.S. dollars, a growth of 15% compared to the export of 1.314 billion dollars in 2009. El Salvador’s textile exports are 52% of its total exports. Some export items of El Salvador’s textiles are among the top ten in the world. How to compete with Asian countries in the future will be a challenge. In 2010, El Salvador invested in three textile programs with a total amount of 33 million U. S. dollars and the manufacturing plant is located in the American Park Industrial Zone. The cost of El Salvador’s textile industry went up 5 to 30% in 2010, because of the impact of electricity fee hikes of 8% that year.
