EU Announced an Agreement to Cut Banana Import Tariffs from 12 Countries, Including Panama

The EU Parliament passed an agreement to lower banana import tariffs from 12 nations (including the U. S. and 11 other countries in Central and South American) who produce and export bananas to the EU market. The existing tariff of €176 (about US$240) per tonne will be down to €114 (about US$155) by 2017, pending agreement by WTO members before implementation.
