Taiwan, Poland sign deal on science, higher education cooperation

Taiwan and Poland signed an agreement to strengthen their cooperation in science and higher education July 27 in Warsaw, Poland.
 
 Under the deal the Ministries of Education and Science and Technology will work with Poland’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education to increase the number of exchanges between their university students, postdoctoral scientists and scientific and educational institutions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
 
 In addition, the two countries will conduct joint research projects and organize conferences and workshops. The agreement also covers the running of scholarship programs and exchanges between language teachers from both countries.
 
 Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Warsaw Representative Weber V. B. Shih and Director General of the Polish Office in Taipei Maciej Gaca inked the deal, with Piotr Dardzinski, undersecretary of state for Poland’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education, witnessing the signing.
 
 The MOFA described the deal as an important milestone for the two nations as it assures greater cooperation in the fields of education and scientific research in the future.
 
 Taiwan and Poland enjoy a close relationship that covers a broad spectrum of fields, the ministry said, noting robust investment and economic cooperation between the two sides. The nations have also worked together successfully in the fields of scientific research and higher education, including establishing sister school partnerships and conducting joint research.
