Computex Taipei, the largest information and communication technology trade show in Asia, is set to kick off June 5 at Taipei World Trade Center, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center and Taipei International Convention Center.
According to co-organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the five-day event will bring together 1,602 exhibitors from 30 countries and territories to showcase the latest digital products and solutions. In line with this year’s theme of building global technology ecosystems, the show will highlight emerging trends in areas spanning 5G, or fifth generation, wireless communication technology, artificial intelligence, blockchain, gaming, Internet of Things and virtual reality.
TAITRA President and CEO Walter M. S. Yeh said that as one of the world’s foremost ICT business-to-business exhibitions, Computex is committed to spotlighting the latest industry developments so as to generate momentum in emerging fields, foster cross-sector collaboration and spur innovation.
In addition to business matchmaking events and product launches, the show will host forums on AI, IoT and future trends. Featured speakers hail from technology giants such as IBM Corp., Intel Corp., Google, NVIDIA Corp. and Qualcomm Technologies Inc.
Another major highlight is InnoVEX, a communication and exhibition platform launched by Computex in 2016 to promote business connections and technological exchanges among new ventures from around the world. This initiative is helping establish the trade show as a front-runner in fostering entrepreneurship in the innovation-driven global economy, TAITRA said.
Running June 6-8, InnoVEX will see acclaimed accelerators such as Alibaba Entrepreneur Fund, Fenox Venture Capital, as well as startup programs at Amazon and Intel, seeking investment targets.
A tour of local incubators and venture capital firms will also be staged for InnoVEX participants June 9. Stops include Taipei City-based China Development Industrial Bank and Garage+, as well as Taiwan Innovation and Technology Arena in northern Taiwan’s Hsinchu County.
