Nicaragua was visited by over one million tourists in 2010

Mario Salinas, the Tourist Bureau head of Nicaragua pointed out that in 2010, the number of tourists visiting Nicaragua hit the one million mark, up to 1,015,775, growing by 9% over 931,904 of 2009. The tourists primarily came from Central America, the United States and Europe. Nicaragua made US$357 million revenues from tourism. Meanwhile, under the investment incentive offered by Tourist Industry Act #306, the total investment in tourism industry hit US$135 million, an all-time-high in the past five years.
