China Airlines named best carrier in North Asia by Global Traveler
2017/12/27
Taiwan’s China Airlines was named the best airline in North Asia for the fifth consecutive year in a survey by U.S.-headquartered Global Traveler magazine, according to the international carrier based in northern Taiwan’s Taoyuan City Dec. 25.
The carrier’s commitment to comfort, convenience, entertainment, safety and constant innovation in airline technology were the main reasons for CAL’s popularity with Global Traveler’s readers, according to the magazine. “From the moment travelers step on board a China Airlines flight, they are welcomed with the finest hospitality and accommodations,” it said.
Other honors claimed by the airline in the annual survey include best business class seat design for the third consecutive year and 10th best airline in the world for business class. In response, CAL said that the recognition illustrates its growing presence on the international stage.
The carrier noted it is continuing to expand its global network by introducing more passenger aircrafts as well as establishing new routes. In December, CAL launched Taipei-London nonstop flights, while in September, it announced direct flights from Taipei to the city of Ontario, California, set to commence in March next year.
The survey also named Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport as the fourth best airport in Asia as well as the region’s fourth best airport for duty-free shopping.
According to Global Traveler, a magazine geared toward the world’s business travelers, the winners were chosen via more than 22,000 qualified ballots cast by readers from Jan. 1 to Aug. 31. This was the 14th edition of the survey that evaluates international airlines, hotels, restaurants and travel-related businesses.
