2017/10/17
The delegation arrived from Guatemala at San Ignacio, a small town at the border of the two countries on the afternoon of October 2nd. Belize Tourism Board (BTB) sponsored local food, accommodation, transportation, and had a designated specialist who assisted with the entire local itinerary. That night, representatives from two tourism companies in the small town shared about local tourist attractions and extreme sports and the delegates inquired with great interest for more information. On the second day, BTB scheduled a tour to Xunantunich, the ruin of the ancient Maya civilization in Belize. For the delegates who already learned about Mayan ruins at Honduras’ Copan and Guatemala's Tikal National Park, not only did they gained further understanding of Maya culture through the trip to Belize but were also amazed by the unique characteristics of this ancient civilization in each country. The busy schedule was followed by a cruise trip to Caye Caulker island for next day’s tour to the Great Blue Hole.
With a boat ride from the city of Belize in the afternoon of October 4th, the delegation arrived at Caye Caulker island. Only electric cars, sincere residents, and beautiful ocean view were seen on the entire island. With a night of good rest, the whole delegates departed by boat at 5:30am the next morning to a well-known attraction in Belize: snorkeling at the Great Blue Hole. The delegation finally arrived at the Great Blue Hole after more than two hours and the delegates could not wait to explore the undersea world with the tour guide. The delegates were astonished by the rich ecology resources in the ocean. The delegation later arrived at Half Moon Caye, another island that is devoted to environmental and ecological protection and the delegates had great fun snorkeling and birdwatching. Taiwan Ambassador KeYu, Liu in Belize held a banquet that night at the ambassador’s residence and thoughtfully arranged interaction between the delegates, Tourism Board Director, and related agencies. The following day, BTB scheduled a trip to the National Institute of Culture and History and a meal of authentic chicken cuisine to perfectly conclude the tour in Belize.
