Free Trade Agreement Between El Salvador and Peru is Expected to be Signed in July 2011

2010-11-26

The Trade Policy director of El Salvador's Economy Ministry, Mr. Carlos Moreno, expressed optimism concerning the signing of a free trade agreement between Central American countries and Peru. The second round of negotiations will be held in Panama in January 2011, and it is expected that the negotiations will be completed and the agreement signed by July next year. Under this agreement, El Salvador will be able to expand its South American market, increasing trade posts, but the best of all is that it will have preferential access to raw material supplies and be able to attract direct foreign investment. MERCOSUR (Southern Common Market) countries have expressed favorable support for this agreement.
