Trade Between Taiwan and Nicaragua Sets a 10-Year Record

2010-11-26

Because of the recovery of the international economy and CATO’s active promotion of bilateral trade with Nicaragua, that includes; introducing Nicaraguan exporters to Taiwan, helping Taiwan manufacturers procure Nicaraguan products, organizing business marketing events, and taking the initiative to contact manufacturers on expanding sales, the trade between both countries has risen significantly. The total bilateral trade from January through October 2010 amounts to over 50 million U. S. dollars, reaching 55.80 million U. S. dollars, compared with 30.80 million U. S. dollars of the same period in 2009, an increase of 81%. Taiwan exports to Nicaragua total 28 million U. S. dollars, an increase of 85%; imports from Nicaragua total 2.78 million U. S. dollars, an increase of 77%; the trade volume from January through October 2010 has created a trade record – the highest in nearly ten years. Taiwan has surpassed Japan to become the primary export market in Asia for Nicaragua. It is expected that the annual bilateral trade should continue to grow.
