El Salvador Textile Exports Grow in 2010
2010-09-29
The El Salvador Textile Association (CAMTEX) pointed out that from January to July this year, El Salvador's textile exports amounted to 10.81 million US dollars, compared to 8.7 million over the same period last year, an increase of 21.7%, but that still fell short of the 2008 level. Patricia Figueroa, executive director of CAMTEX, predicted slow recovery of the textile industry in 2010 and 2011. She called upon the government and the industry to discuss the development of new processing zone regulations, and to negotiate with the Labor Department, for consent for the textile industry to add employees with flexible work hours, in response to the demand of foreign orders.
