Belize’s soy meal becomes another popular agricultural export

2010-08-30

The Spanish Lookout in Belize is the national hub for imports of chicken, dairy and agricultural products (rice in particular), beverages, and industrial/construction materials. The community also accounts for the largest share of national legume exports. Bel-Car Co., an importer-exporter founded in 2000, has successfully sold the Atsuki red beans, black beans and black-eyed peas produced in Spanish Lookout to Caribbean countries as well as the Middle East, driving up the foreign exchange reserves of Belize. Bel-Car decided to invest another 7 million BZ dollar in corn meal and expand its food ingredients business.
