El Salvador to boost trade ties with Taiwan
2010-08-27
The amount of El Salvador exports to Taiwan has doubled since the two countries signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) two years ago. El Salvador’s Ministry of Economics expects the country’s 2010 exports to Taiwan to grow by 30% or more from the previous year. Although currently El Salvador sells mostly coffee and sugar to Taiwan, it hopes to diversify the exports to effectively boost the bilateral trade ties. In order to explore markets in the U.S. and regions outside Central America, the El Salvador-based manufacturers should improve their market share in Asia, El Salvador’s Ministry of Economics noted.
