Intra-regional trade in Central America up 12.2% in 2010

For the first five months in this year, El Salvador posts a 12.3% increase in export and over US$ 1.8 billion worth of total export. The largest growth is seen in the traditional, non-traditional and processed goods sectors, the exports of which increased by 10%, 17% and 6%, respectively. El Salvador mainly sells toilet paper, medicine, plastic and rubber products, pastry and corn meal to its Central American neighbors. Among all exports, the demand for medicine, food and beverages registered the strongest increase in the first quarter of 2010.
