El Salvador saw foreign aid double from June 2009 to May 2010

2010-07-27

The foreign aid to El Salvador has doubled amid concerns over the global financial turmoil, instead of decreasing. El Salvador spends the monetary aid mostly on efforts to bolster democracy, government efficiency, economic development, people’s livelihood, education, and help the country recover from the global economic crisis. Taiwan has donated US$ 35 million to El Salvador and is ranked as its third largest benefactor, second only to Spain (US$ 84.79 million) and the United States (US$ 58.5 million). The total amount donated by Taiwan exceeds that of Japan (US$ 16 million), Germany (US$ 14 million) and Korea (US$ 5.5 million).
