In a bid to boost intra-regional tourism and tourist arrivals, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (Alianza Bolivariana para los Pueblos de Nuestra América, or ALBA) plans to launch three tourism development programs. In the second half of 2010, a “La Ruta de los Libertadores”-themed travel package will be available, featuring tourist attractions jointly determined by Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba, Ecuador and Bolivia. During Sep. 8th -12th, a travel & tourism trade show will take place in Venezuela. With significant figures from around the world leading a massive parade to demonstrate Latin American people’s pursuit of sovereignty, the trade show will tout tourist attractions revolving around the theme of the La Ruta de los Libertadores. The historic relics linked to the life of Augusto César Sandino, a national hero and symbol of Nicaragua's ruling Sandinista party, will be the highlight of Nicaragua’s promotional campaign.
