Nicaragua reports rising commodity prices

According to a study conducted by Nicaragua’s Instituto Nacional de Informacion de Desarrollo (INIDE), the prices of 53 essential commodities had risen to an average 8,675 Nicaragua Cordobas (US$ 410) in May 2010, the highest in the past year. The study was conducted on 53 essential commodities including grains, meat, vegetables & food, household utilities, gas and clothing items. Among them the food prices increased the most, gaining more than 5% from the early-2010 level.
