Belizean Band Garifuna Collective Performs in Taiwan

Taiwan has been in a diplomatic relationship with Belize for 30 years since 1989. To celebrate the 30th Anniversary, the Embassy of Belize, the Central America Trade Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a series of celebration activities in October. Garifuna Collective, a Belizean Band, is invited to perform in the 2019 Taichung Jazz Festival and a series of activities in Taipei to highlight the good diplomatic relation between the two countries. This is also a good opportunity for more Taiwanese to have a deeper understanding of the national image and art culture of Belize, a Central American country with a diplomatic tie with Taiwan.  

Garifuna Collective will attend the 2019 Taichung Jazz Festival on October 18 and 19 in Taichung Civic Square and Calligraphy Greenway, respectively, bringing their music full of Garifuna culture and soul, and sharing their music and stories with Taiwanese audience. Moreover, they will exchange their music with the student music workshop of National Taiwan University of Art, and will perform with the students of Chinese Music Department, National Taiwan University of Art at 7:30 pm on October 17 in a concert “Belize + Taiwan @ 30 Friendship Concert featuring The Garifuna Collective - Belize World Music Band with National Taiwan University of Arts Chinese Music Student”.
