2011 Taipei International Food Show – Central America Pavilion debuts at Nangang Exhibiting Hall from 6/22-25

The 2011 Taipei International Food Show will be held at the World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall from June 22 through 25. Central American countries jointly planning a Central America Hall, together with a FTA Country Product Area, which is setup by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, will be exhibiting diverse specialty food products. Central American vendors and representatives from trade associations recommended by Embassies abroad are invited to exhibit in Taiwan, hoping to exchange ideas with and pay visits to Taiwanese vendors by way of the exhibition, to explore business opportunities, and to develop international markets.
Although food products from Central America are not luxurious, they present strong natural flavors, and Central American coffee is particularly wildly popular. It is the third largest coffee export zone in the world, and has recently expanded their exports to Europe, U. S. and Asian countries. The well-known U. S. business, Starbucks, planned to purchase organic coffee beans from Santa Barbara, Honduras, in 2010. Chain stores and can coffee makers in Taiwan use coffee beans from Central America. Many boutique coffee shops in the city are beginning to offer single product coffee from Central America. The Central America Hall, a joint exhibit area from six countries, as well as the Panama and Guatemala National Halls are exhibiting respectively, coffee, pastries, honey, sugar, chocolate, sauces, juices, rum, noni, sesame, seafood products and organic flora and herbal products. In addition to highlighting the abundance, as well as the natural organic image and advantage of the Central American agricultural products, the exhibit is also bringing Taiwanese people a better understanding of the characteristics of the Central American cuisine.
