Taiwan is committed to further bolstering ties with Honduras while working alongside its Central American ally to promote the two sides’ numerous achievements together, according to Vice Foreign Minister Alexander Tah-ray Yui.

Taiwan and Honduras have cooperated extensively in key areas such as culture, education, environmental sustainability, post-hurricane reconstruction and trade, Yui said. Honduras is also a staunch supporter of Taiwan’s participation in the global arena, he added.

Yui made the remarks Aug. 17 during a group virtual interview held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Taipei City to mark the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties with Honduras.

According to the MOFA, a total of 19 journalists from Honduras mainstream media outlets, including Internet-based websites, print media, radio and television participated in the interview. Taiwan will remain resolute in standing shoulder to shoulder with its ally, while offering support and assistance in times of need, the ministry added.

In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA said: “Vice Minister Yui gave a group interview marking the 80th anniversary of #Taiwan-#Honduras ties. He detailed key successes in bilateral relations, & conveyed appreciation for the true friendship & strong support of the #CentralAmerica ally. Many thanks to all 19 participants!”
